After being named after the Greek god of healing, Asclepias, in 1753, the health benefits of milkweed have been largely forgotten through the years.

When Herb Knudsen, Founder and former President of Milkweed Balm, was scheduled for a hip replacement due to osteoarthritis, he rubbed some milkweed seed oil on the pain and surprisingly, it felt a lot better. Being a chemist and patent attorney, Herb went to work testing and developing a product he could share with the world.

We are grateful for innovators like Herb that see opportunities to create value out of milkweed and care about how the milkweed for their products is harvested.
